Dear Garden Patrons,

Our summer exhibition …things come to thrive…in the shedding…in the molting… by Ebony G. Patterson is in its final weeks. If you haven’t had the chance to experience these site-specific works, be sure to visit before October 22.

Autumn foliage is already making its appearance throughout the Garden, heralding a “Fall-O-Ween” season full of activities for all ages - from Giant Pumpkin Carving Weekend to Spooky Garden Nights to our Kiku exhibition, opening October 28.

Patrons Fall Walk

Thursday October 12; 4 p.m. | Thain Family Forest

Walk back into the past of the landscape that became The New York Botanical Garden! Dr. Eric W. Sanderson, author of Mannahatta and NYBG’s inaugural Vice President for Urban Conservation, will discuss what he and his team have uncovered about this site from 1609 and (long) before. While we walk, Eric will share how combining landscape ecology with historical research can shed new light on current environmental challenges and help us imagine different futures for the Garden and the City as a whole.

This will be a +1.5-mile walking tour, over unpaved and sometimes hilly terrain. The walk will conclude at the historic Lillian and Amy Goldman Stone Mill for further discussion and light refreshments.

RSVP by October 6 to patronevents@nybg.org or call 718.817.8553. Space is limited, 2 guests maximum.

Wooden ramp with rails in the middle of green plants

When you visit the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, you may notice that the front accessibility ramp has been recently refurbished. We would like to thank Emma, Sophia, Dylan, and Asher Jonisch, four children in Westchester County, who have generously funded the refurbishment of both the front and rear ramps through their organization Care Chairz in honor of their mother and others with invisible illnesses and accessibility issues. We all hope that this refurbishment will allow everyone to enjoy our installations and exhibitions in the Conservatory.
